The Château of Angers is located in the Pays de la Loire region, at the heart of the town of Angers. This vast medieval fortress, surrounded by seventeen towers, was built by the young Saint-Louis on the border of his kingdom in the 13th century.
From Neolithic times up to the 21st century, the site has constantly changed both in use and appearance, with each period leaving behind its tangible traces.
Inside the huge fortress walls are the residential buildings and gardens. The château houses the famous Apocalypse tapestry, one of the major medieval tapestry works.
